Director Paid Media

We are seeking an experienced and proven leader for our Paid Media opening, reporting to the VP of Audience Marketing. You should be a digital marketing veteran with experience in media buying and paid campaigns in the publishing and social media space. Your day-to-day work will manage the planning, execution and reporting of paid campaigns with objectives ranging from delivering pageviews, impression, and video views, to audience growth strategies and monetization efforts.

This role is responsible for measuring & reporting performance of all campaigns against goals & budget. You will collaborate with the Director of Social Media, Campaign Managers within the Professional Services team, and the Yield/Revenue Operations leads to develop workflow and manage cross channel campaigns.

You understand the unique role that paid media plays in a modern digital campaign, you’re able to translate data into action items, and you’re always on the lookout for the next opportunity in an evolving space.

Job performance evaluation will include comprehensive campaign reporting: generate timely & accurate delivery of web analytics & campaign results reports, revenue/cost analysis & insights/recommendations. You must love to learn & always seek to improve as you conduct media research & discover new advertising opportunities.

The Work

  • Fulfillment of impression and branded content campaign delivery, and well as video pre-roll and branded video delivery
  • Manage the media strategy with insight into budget allocation and audience targeting
  • Optimize campaigns toward KPIs via social media, content marketing vendors, and other 3rd party advertising platforms and on-site native units
  • Deliver measurement and reporting of paid media campaign results with data from various sources
  • Institute and enforce workflow using project management tools and processes
  • Asses and deliver arbitrage marketing efforts to deliver incremental revenue
  • Test and evaluate new or emerging ad units/technologies
  • Participate in client services meetings, audience marketing, and revenue optimization presentations to Senior management

The Fine Print

  • 4+ years of relevant digital paid media experience, including deep expertise in content marketing and social media advertising
  • Ability to work autonomously, identifying and solving problems that arise on campaigns
  • The ability to translate metrics into insights into action
  • Hands-on experience with analytics or digital media software, including but not limited to Google Analytics, Social Media publishing, listening and reporting tools, content marketing vendors, display advertisers
  • Ability to quickly transition from strategic to hands-on role quickly and efficiently
  • An absolute thirst for staying ahead of the curve on paid and social strategies and tactics
  • Ability to multitask on multiple projects
  • Ability to effectively communicate in marketing, editorial and sales environments
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel
  • An awesome, collaborative attitude
  • Innate curiosity and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Media agency experience and/or publishing background preferred
  • College degree in marketing, communications, business, or other relevant field
